Trump addresses health concerns in interview
U.S. President Donald Trump has described his health as "perfect" but acknowledged unconventional medical habits, including taking higher-than-recommended doses of aspirin and using makeup to conceal bruising on his hands.
High aspirin dosage and bruising
In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump revealed he has taken 325mg of aspirin daily for the past 25 years-significantly more than the 81mg dose often recommended by doctors. He attributed his decision to a preference for thinner blood, despite acknowledging that the higher dose causes easy bruising.
"They say aspirin is good for thinning out the blood, and I don't want thick blood pouring through my heart," Trump said. When asked about switching to a lower dose, he responded, "I'm a little superstitious."
Medical scans and misstatements
Trump also clarified a previous claim about undergoing an MRI scan at Walter Reed National Medical Center in October. He told the Journal that the procedure was actually a CT scan, which his doctor, Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, confirmed was conducted to rule out cardiovascular issues. The results showed no abnormalities.
Barbabella stated that Trump remains in "exceptional health" and is fully capable of performing his presidential duties.
Exercise and age-related habits
The 79-year-old president, the oldest to assume office in U.S. history, said he avoids regular exercise because he finds it "boring." His primary physical activity is golfing, though he noted improvements in leg swelling after adjusting his routine to stand up from his desk more frequently.
Trump dismissed concerns about appearing to doze off in meetings, explaining that he sometimes closes his eyes to relax. He also addressed visible bruising on his hands, saying he carries makeup to quickly cover any marks.
"I have makeup that's, you know, easy to put on, takes about 10 seconds."

Public perception and irritation
Trump expressed frustration over repeated questions about his health, telling the Journal, "Let's talk about health again for the 25th time." He denied hearing difficulties, attributing photos of him appearing to sleep to photographers capturing him mid-blink.
Despite his assertions, concerns about his age and stamina persist as he campaigns for re-election.
