Chalamet puts EsDeeKid speculation to rest
Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet has ended weeks of fan theories by appearing alongside anonymous rapper EsDeeKid in a new music video, confirming the two are separate people.
The rumors
Speculation surged that Chalamet was secretly the masked rapper, known only for revealing his eyes in public appearances. Fans pointed to similarities between their eyes, while Chalamet himself fueled curiosity with cryptic responses.
When questioned by the BBC earlier this week, he replied, "No comment... You'll see, all in due time." BBC Radio 1's Greg James also pressed him in an interview, to which Chalamet said, "All will be revealed in due time." James later updated his social media caption to note, "all was revealed."
The collaboration
Chalamet shared a video of himself rapping alongside EsDeeKid on a remix of the rapper's hit 4Raws. The clip opens with Chalamet's eyes visible, mirroring EsDeeKid's signature style, before he pulls down his bandana to reveal his face.
"It's Timothée Chalamet chillin', tryin' to stack $100 million."
He also referenced his partner, Kylie Jenner, with the line, "Girl got $1 billion." The video was filmed at Andover Minimarket Off Licence in north London and reposted by EsDeeKid.
Reactions and skepticism
The collaboration quickly went viral, with British rapper Central Cee reacting with "Naaa" and crying-laughing emojis. Tinie Tempah called it "Hahha this is sickkk," while U.S. artist Shaboozey predicted it would "go #1."
Despite the hype, critics noted the implausibility of Chalamet maintaining EsDeeKid's distinct Liverpudlian accent while juggling a Hollywood career. The video also served as a promotional boost for Chalamet's film, Marty Supreme, which he referenced in the track.
Marketing savvy
The collaboration appears to be part of a broader promotional strategy for Marty Supreme, blending Chalamet's high school hip-hop alias, Lil Timmy Tim, with his current public persona. Fans and industry observers praised the move as a clever way to merge his acting and musical interests.
