Team GB men secure crucial victory
Great Britain's men's curling team moved within striking distance of the Winter Olympics semi-finals after a commanding 9-4 win against Germany in northern Italy on Sunday.
Dominant performance builds momentum
Bruce Mouat's world championship-winning quartet extended their unbeaten run to four victories in five matches, positioning themselves strongly for a top-four finish. Six wins in the round-robin stage will almost certainly secure their progression.
The British team, who also triumphed over Germany in both the European and World Championships last year, maintained control throughout the match. After leveling at 2-2 early on, they surged ahead to lead 5-2 at the halfway mark, then capitalized on a two-point steal in the seventh end to further distance themselves.
Germany unable to recover
Despite a late rally, Germany struggled to close the gap as Mouat sealed the victory with another two points in the ninth end. The result leaves Team GB in a strong position as they prepare for their next challenge against unbeaten Switzerland later on Sunday (18:05 GMT).
GB women aim to revive semi-final hopes
Earlier on Sunday, the British women's team faced Sweden (13:05 GMT) in a bid to keep their own semi-final aspirations alive. The match followed a historic milestone for Team GB in the monobob event.
Adele Nicoll makes history in monobob
Adele Nicoll became the first British woman to compete in the Olympic monobob, finishing 13th at the halfway stage of the event in Cortina. The 29-year-old recorded a combined time of 2:00.83 across two heats, 1.71 seconds behind Germany's Laura Nolte, who currently leads the field.
While a medal may be out of reach, Nicoll remains focused on securing a top-10 finish. The Welsh athlete, who was a reserve for Team GB at the Beijing 2022 Games, will also compete in the two-woman bobsleigh event at Milan-Cortina.
"I was more nervous than I realized for the first run-I felt a bit like jelly on the block. Seeing the Milan-Cortina Olympic rings was surreal and emotional. These were all first experiences, and I just wanted to do myself proud."

Nicoll, a three-time British shot put champion, is also targeting a spot at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer. She holds two World Cup silver medals in the two-woman bobsleigh event.
Former Team GB athlete competes for Jamaica
Mica Moore, who represented Great Britain at the 2022 Winter Olympics but has since switched allegiance to Jamaica, sits 15th in the monobob standings with a time of 2:00.98. Moore will compete in the medal-deciding heats on Monday.
