Surrey developer secures two Bafta nominations
A Farnham-based game studio has been shortlisted for two Bafta Gaming Awards this year, marking its third nomination in the Best British Game category.
Two Point Studios received nods for Two Point Museum in both the Best British Game and Family categories. The team called the recognition a "massive honour."
From small beginnings to industry acclaim
Founded in Farnham, Two Point Studios started with just eight employees in a modest office space. Today, the studio employs around 50 people.
"We haven't expanded aggressively despite our successes; we've aimed to remain a small, boutique studio," said founder and studio director Gary Carr.
Competition and collaboration in the south
Other contenders in the Best British Game category include Monument Valley 3 by London's Ustwo and Mafia: The Old Country from Brighton-based Hangar 13.
"The south of England has some incredible studios. So many world-class games have come out of Guildford and the surrounding area," said design director Ben Huskins.
Huskins highlighted the region's collaborative spirit, noting that studios like Molecule, Supermassive, Hello Games, and Glowmade have all worked together at some point in their careers.
Balancing innovation with audience expectations
The studio's current focus is on delivering "new, fresh ideas" and surprising players with content they haven't seen before, Huskins added.
Two Point Studios was previously nominated for Best British Game in 2023 and 2019. "We're hoping it's third time lucky," Huskins said.
