Sinner claims ATP Finals title without dropping a set
Jannik Sinner became the youngest player to win every major hard-court tournament after defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets at the ATP Finals in California.
Dominant performance seals milestone
The 24-year-old Italian triumphed 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-4) in a tightly contested final lasting nearly two hours under intense heat. Sinner did not face a single break point against Medvedev, losing only four points on his first serve.
His victory extends his head-to-head lead over Medvedev to nine wins in their last 10 meetings. Sinner also maintained his flawless record in the tournament, not dropping a set en route to his 25th career title.
Historic achievement in men's tennis
Sinner now joins Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer as the only players to win all six Masters 1,000 titles on hard courts, both Grand Slams on the surface (Australian Open in 2024 and 2025, US Open in 2024), and the season-ending ATP Finals.
"I knew this was a tournament I hadn't won, so I wanted to prepare as professionally as possible. Having this achievement now means a lot to me."

Andre Agassi previously accomplished a similar feat, winning the five hard-court Masters 1,000 events available during his career, along with both majors and the ATP Finals.
Medvedev's resilience falls short
Despite the loss, Medvedev will return to the top 10 in the rankings. The Russian nearly missed the tournament after being stranded in Dubai due to Middle East conflict disruptions but demonstrated his form with a strong semi-final win over Carlos Alcaraz.
Medvedev saved the only two break points of the final and briefly threatened to force a third set when he led 4-0 in the second-set tie-break. However, Sinner responded with seven consecutive points to seal the match.
Statistical edge and what's next
Sinner's serve proved decisive, winning 43 of 47 first-serve points, hitting 10 aces, and converting 60% of second-serve points. His ability to control key moments, particularly in the tie-breaks, secured his back-to-back Masters 1,000 titles.
Looking ahead, Sinner plans a brief rest before preparing for the Miami Open, where he aims to continue his strong start to the season.
Djokovic withdraws from Miami Open
In other news, Novak Djokovic has pulled out of the upcoming Miami Open due to a right shoulder injury. The 24-time Grand Slam champion, who has won the event six times, cited the injury as the reason for his absence, which begins on Monday.
