Shooting erupts at Oklahoma lake gathering
At least ten people were wounded when gunfire broke out near Arcadia Lake in eastern Edmond, Oklahoma, around 9 p.m. local time on Sunday, police confirmed.
Casualties and response
Edmond Police spokesperson Emily Ward reported that ten victims were transported to hospitals in varying conditions, while others sought medical care on their own. No arrests have been made, and authorities stated there is no continuing public threat.
"This is obviously a very terrifying situation, and we understand the concern from the public and those involved. We are working extremely hard to find the suspects," Ward said.
Hospital reports
According to CBS News, nine patients were admitted to Integris Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, and three others were treated at Integris Health Edmond Hospital. A hospital spokesperson indicated that assessments were still underway late Sunday night.
Scene and investigation
Arcadia Lake, an artificial reservoir popular for recreation, was the site of the shooting. Police have not disclosed details about the event, but U.S. media reported that a social media flyer advertised a gathering called "Sunday Funday" at the lake on Sunday evening.
Edmond police posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the total number of victims may still change as the investigation continues.
Family support
Local media reported that police established a reunification center for families at a nearby Walmart.
