Robertson to lead Scotland at World Cup before Spurs move
Scotland's long-serving captain Andy Robertson will become a Tottenham Hotspur player on 1 July after his Liverpool contract expires, the Premier League club confirmed on Wednesday.
Robertson, 32, will also skipper Scotland during their first World Cup finals appearance since 1998 this summer.
Transfer saga and Liverpool exit
Robertson announced in April that he would leave Liverpool when his deal ended on 30 June. Tottenham, then managed by Thomas Frank, had already identified the left-back as a target in January.
An agreement between the two clubs collapsed when Liverpool were unable to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at Roma. Spurs ultimately secured Premier League survival on the final day under new manager Roberto de Zerbi, defeating Everton to finish the season.

"Andy is someone I've admired for years," De Zerbi said. "He brings outstanding technical qualities, experience, leadership and mentality to our squad."
The Italian manager added: "He is a proven winner at the highest level and will be a key figure for us both on and off the pitch."
Liverpool legacy and Scotland's World Cup hopes
Robertson joined Liverpool from Hull City in 2017 and went on to make 378 appearances, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, two League Cups and the FA Cup.
He will add to his 92 Scotland caps when he leads the national team at the upcoming World Cup.
