Scarlets secure Welsh talent in permanent transfer
The Llanelli-based rugby club has completed the permanent signing of second-row forward Harvey Cuckson from Bath, following two successful loan spells with the Welsh side.
Early career and development
Cuckson, 22, emerged through the Worcester Warriors academy before making his mark in senior rugby. Standing at 6 feet 7 inches, the Welsh-qualified lock has represented England at Under-20 level and gained experience across multiple competitions this season.
His recent performances for Scarlets included five appearances in the United Rugby Championship (URC), where he faced top-tier opponents such as the Lions, Sharks, Glasgow Warriors, Dragons, and Ulster. He also featured for Bath in the Premiership Cup and Worcester in the Championship.
Standout performances during injury crisis
Cuckson joined Scarlets on loan last October amid a second-row injury crisis. His impact was immediate, particularly during a demanding tour of South Africa. Interim director of rugby Nigel Davies praised his composure, physicality, and work ethic, noting his strength in set-pieces and defensive contributions.

Connection to Welsh rugby
Born in north Wales, Cuckson expressed enthusiasm about returning to play in his home country. He described the move as a "huge opportunity" and looks forward to contributing to the squad during pre-season and the upcoming URC campaign.

Club's summer transfer activity
Cuckson is the second confirmed signing for Scarlets this summer, following the arrival of Wales loose-head prop Corey Domachowski from Cardiff. Davies emphasized the club's commitment to developing players with ties to Welsh rugby, highlighting Cuckson's potential and growth mindset.
Upcoming fixtures
Scarlets, currently second from bottom in the URC standings, face the Ospreys in Bridgend this Saturday before concluding their season at home against the Dragons.
