TV anchor makes emotional plea for missing mother

US broadcaster Savannah Guthrie has directly appealed to those holding her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, urging them to come forward as the search enters its third week.

In a video message released Monday, Guthrie addressed the unknown individual, saying, "It is never too late to do the right thing." She added that her family "still has hope" for Nancy's safe return.

FBI examines critical evidence

Investigators are analyzing DNA found on a glove recovered near the roadside, approximately two miles from Nancy Guthrie's Tucson, Arizona, home. The FBI stated the glove appears to match one worn by a suspect captured on doorbell footage the night of her disappearance.

Out of 16 gloves collected from the area, only this one yielded a DNA profile matching the surveillance images. Preliminary results are pending official confirmation before being entered into law enforcement databases.

Surveillance footage reveals suspect details

Earlier this week, authorities released video showing a masked man in gloves and a backpack approaching Guthrie's front door. The suspect attempted to block the camera with his hand before using yard brush to obscure its view.

Forensic analysis suggests the individual is between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall with an average build. The FBI identified the backpack as a 25-litre Ozark Trail Hiker Pack, which remains a key focus of the investigation.

Search efforts intensify

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 after being dropped off at her home following a family gathering. Church members reported her missing the next day when she failed to appear for services.

Since then, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff's Office have conducted extensive searches involving helicopters, K-9 units, and hundreds of officers. Authorities have received thousands of tips but have made no arrests.

On Friday, officials executed a search warrant at a residence near Guthrie's home but found no immediate leads. Sheriff Chris Nanos noted that Nancy Guthrie has health conditions requiring medication, raising concerns about her well-being.

Reward doubled as investigation continues

The FBI has increased the reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie's whereabouts from $50,000 to $100,000. Authorities continue to urge the public to come forward with any details, no matter how small.

"We are not ruling out any individuals or possibilities at this stage," the Pima County Sheriff's Department stated.
