Russian missile and drone strikes killed at least seven people in Ukraine overnight, including five in the central city of Dnipro after an apartment building was hit, Ukrainian officials reported on Saturday.

Zelensky describes relentless assault

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated the attacks lasted nearly the entire night. Rescue teams in Dnipro continued searching for survivors beneath collapsed rubble Saturday morning.

"The Russians' tactics have not changed: strike drones, cruise missiles, and a significant amount of ballistics. Most of the targets are ordinary infrastructure in cities. Residential buildings, energy, and enterprises have been damaged."

Ukraine launches deep strikes into Russia

Ukraine conducted some of its farthest-reaching drone attacks yet, targeting locations nearly 1,600 kilometers inside Russian territory. In Yekaterinburg, a building was struck, injuring six people, according to the regional governor. Nearby Chelyabinsk saw drones intercepted before reaching an industrial site, local authorities said.

British jets scrambled during assault

British Typhoon fighter jets were deployed from Romania after Russian drones were detected near the border. The UK Ministry of Defence denied reports that its aircraft had shot down any drones, clarifying that no projectiles entered Romanian airspace. A NATO official confirmed the jets were authorized to engage but did not need to act as threats were neutralized outside Romanian territory.

Russia claims village capture near Kharkiv

Russia's Ministry of Defence announced it had seized control of Bochkove, a village in the Kharkiv region near the northern border, according to state-linked news agency Tass. Ukrainian officials have not responded to the claim, and independent verification remains unavailable.

Romania investigates border incident

Romania's defence ministry is examining the possible fall of an unidentified object on its soil close to the Ukrainian border during the Russian strikes. The ministry corrected an earlier statement that mistakenly suggested British jets had downed Russian drones over Romanian airspace-an incident that would have marked a first.

Ukraine seeks Gulf support amid stalled peace talks

With negotiations between Russia and Ukraine deadlocked, Kyiv is intensifying efforts to secure international military backing. On Friday, Zelensky met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh for the second time in recent months. Discussions focused on bolstering air defence cooperation and joint military production, according to an official readout.

Saudi Arabia and neighboring Gulf states have shown renewed interest in Ukraine's drone warfare capabilities following recent Iranian attacks on the region.
