Europe's Ariane-6 rocket, set for its maiden launch in July 2026 from French Guiana, will operate within a 650-square-kilometer spaceport bordered by mangroves and rainforests. Balancing ambition and conservation
With annual satellite launches now numbering in the thousands, environmentalists urge stricter safeguards. "We need more testing before launching near protected areas," Barmeyer said, though she remains optimistic about coexistence. "The industry and conservation can work together."
