Robert Irwin wins *Dancing with the Stars* a decade after sister Bindi's victory

Robert Irwin, the 21-year-old wildlife conservationist and son of the late Steve Irwin, clinched the title of this year's *Dancing with the Stars* on Tuesday, mirroring his sister Bindi's win a decade earlier. The victory caps an 11-week journey on the popular U.S. competition, where Irwin paired with professional dancer Witney Carson to deliver standout performances-including an emotional tribute to his father and a surprise appearance by Bindi.

Aussie roots shine in the finale

Irwin's final routines leaned into his Australian heritage, with one dance set to a track by rock band Jet. The three-hour finale also featured performances to songs by Avicii and Sydney-born artist Sam Sparro. A pivotal moment came during the "instant dance challenge," where Irwin and Carson were given a song and style minutes before performing-yet still triumphed.

Overcoming injury and competition

Despite nursing a rib injury, Irwin edged out finalists like influencer Alix Earle and Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles. Though three contestants initially earned perfect scores of 30, Irwin later matched the feat, securing his lead. His emotional finale performance left him in tears, reflecting on his late father's legacy:

"I wish he could see it. I really wish he could be here," Irwin said, choking up.

Legacy of the 'Crocodile Hunter'

Steve Irwin, known globally as the "Crocodile Hunter" for his daring wildlife shows, died in 2006 after a stingray encounter off Australia's coast. Robert, just a baby at the time, has since followed in his father's footsteps-becoming a photographer and Earthshot Prize ambassador. His *Dancing with the Stars* win adds another chapter to the Irwin family's enduring connection to conservation and public life.
