Royal wedding takes place at All Saints Church

Peter Phillips, nephew of King Charles III, married Harriet Sperling, a pediatric nurse with the NHS, in a private ceremony at All Saints Church in Kemble, Gloucestershire, on Saturday. The event was attended by senior members of the Royal Family, including the King and Queen Camilla.

Engagement announced in August 2025

The couple's engagement was officially confirmed in August 2025. A statement released at the time described the news as "wonderful" and revealed that the Royal Family had been informed and were "delighted." Phillips, 48, is the son of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, while Sperling, 45, is the daughter of the late Rupert Sanders and Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire.

Couple's relationship and public appearances

Phillips and Sperling began dating in 2024, reportedly after meeting at a sporting event through their daughters from previous relationships. Their relationship became public as they were seen together at high-profile events, including Royal Ascot in June, where they participated in the traditional carriage procession. They also attended Prince William's charity polo matches and were seated in the Royal Box at Wimbledon last year.

Harriet Sperling: Career and personal life

Sperling, who will now be known as Mrs. Phillips, works as a pediatric nurse specialist for the NHS and is a freelance writer. Under the name Harriet Sanders, she contributed a column to Woman Alive, a Christian magazine, in March 2024, where she discussed her experiences as a single mother. In the article, she described her and her daughter's journey as "an island" and expressed gratitude for the support she found in her faith.

She is also a mother to a teenage daughter, Georgina, who accompanied her into the church on Saturday. Sperling was walked down the aisle by her brother, Nicholas Sanders, in honor of their late father.

Peter Phillips: Family and previous marriage

Phillips has two daughters, Savannah, 15, and Isla, 14, from his previous marriage to Autumn Phillips. The couple wed in 2008 at Windsor Castle but divorced in 2021. His sister, Zara Tindall, and her family were among the guests at Saturday's ceremony, along with other members of the Royal Family, including the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.

Wedding details and royal attendance

Sperling wore a gown designed by Emilia Wickstead, accessorized with earrings by Pragnell and the Pragnell family tiara. Her bridal bouquet included sweet peas, myrtle-a tradition in both her family and the Royal Family-and lily of the valley. The bridesmaids' dresses were also by Wickstead, and they wore earrings from Aspinal London.

In a notable gesture, King Charles and Queen Camilla attended the wedding despite their prior commitment to the Epsom Derby. According to The Telegraph, the monarchs traveled by helicopter to make the 100-mile journey from Gloucestershire to Surrey in time to present the winner's trophy at the racecourse.
