Nottinghamshire secure dominant win at Grace Road
Nottinghamshire sealed their second County Championship victory of the season with a commanding 10-wicket triumph over Leicestershire at Uptonsteel Grace Road, finishing the match with two sessions to spare.
Patterson-White's five-wicket haul turns tide
Left-arm spinner Liam Patterson-White played a pivotal role, claiming the final five Leicestershire wickets to finish with figures of 5-53 from 36 overs. His spell dismantled Leicestershire's lower order, leaving Nottinghamshire with a modest target of 73 runs.
Leicestershire, who had resumed on 215-7, collapsed quickly in the morning session. Tom Scriven fell to the fourth ball of the day, popping up a simple catch to short leg off Patterson-White. Ajaz Patel, who had scored a career-best 62 in the first innings, briefly resisted but was bowled by a sharp turner from the rough outside off stump.
Josh Hull, who had provided valuable support in the first innings, was the last to fall, caught at backward point as Patterson-White completed his fifth wicket of the innings.
Slater seals victory with unbeaten half-century
Ben Slater led Nottinghamshire's chase, smashing an unbeaten 52, including a six off Hull to seal the win. Skipper Haseeb Hameed remained not out on 22 as the visitors reached their target at 13:17 BST, with umpires allowing play to continue beyond the scheduled lunch break to complete the match.
Slater's only scare came when he was dropped behind the stumps on 15 off Leicestershire captain Ian Holland, but the error proved inconsequential as Nottinghamshire cruised to victory.
Nottinghamshire climb to top of Division One
The win earned Nottinghamshire 23 points, propelling them to the top of the Division One table after Somerset's loss to Yorkshire at Taunton. Leicestershire, meanwhile, collected just four points from the match.
Nottinghamshire's next challenge will be a tough encounter against Surrey at Trent Bridge, where they will aim to avenge last September's defeat at The Oval. Leicestershire will travel to Hove to face Sussex, a side they have already lost to this season.

For Leicestershire, Harry Tattersall (61) and Rishi Patel (53) top-scored in the second innings, while Stevie Eskinazi's century in the first innings was a rare bright spot.
