Packers star running back detained on multiple allegations

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested Tuesday on five counts of domestic abuse, authorities confirmed. The 28-year-old faces accusations of battery, property damage, disorderly conduct, victim intimidation, and strangulation following a disturbance call in Hobart, Wisconsin, over the weekend.

Charges pending as investigation continues

Jacobs was taken into custody at the Brown County Jail but released Wednesday without formal charges. Brown County District Attorney David L. Lasee stated his office requires further evidence before deciding whether to pursue criminal charges.

"There is reason to believe additional evidence may exist that would impact whether criminal charges are appropriate," Lasee said.

Jacobs denies allegations through legal team

Attorneys representing Jacobs issued a statement Wednesday, asserting their client's innocence and urging patience as the investigation unfolds.

"Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public. We are extremely pleased that Josh has been released from custody and that no criminal charges have been filed against him."

The legal team added they remain confident the evidence will ultimately clear Jacobs of wrongdoing.

Packers and NFL respond

The Green Bay Packers acknowledged awareness of the situation but declined further comment, citing the ongoing legal process. The NFL issued a similar statement, noting it is in contact with the team regarding the matter.

Career highlights and contract details

Jacobs joined the Packers in 2024 on a four-year, $48 million free-agent contract after a successful tenure with the Las Vegas Raiders. A three-time Pro Bowl selection (2020, 2022, 2024), he led the NFL in rushing yards during his Raiders career. Over seven seasons, he has accumulated 7,803 rushing yards on 1,840 carries and scored 74 touchdowns.
