Oscars 2026 nominations unveiled

Hollywood announced this year's Academy Award nominations on Thursday, with Sinners leading the field after securing a historic 16 nods-the most ever for a single film.

Record-breaking contender

Sinners surpassed the previous record of 14 nominations, held jointly by All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997), and La La Land (2016). The film's haul spans technical and artistic categories, positioning it as the frontrunner for the 98th Academy Awards.

Top nominees

Following Sinners, One Battle After Another earned 13 nominations, while Marty Supreme, Frankenstein, and Sentimental Value each received nine. Hamnet rounded out the top tier with eight nods.

Key categories

The ceremony will honor achievements across 23 categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, and acting awards for lead and supporting roles. Technical categories-such as cinematography, visual effects, and production design-are also in the spotlight.

Ceremony details

The 98th Academy Awards will take place on 15 March, hosted by comedian Conan O'Brien. The event will be broadcast live from Los Angeles, with further details on nominees and presenters to be announced in the coming weeks.
