Norris secures maiden F1 championship by two points
Lando Norris claimed his first Formula 1 drivers' championship in Abu Dhabi, edging out Max Verstappen by a razor-thin margin of two points. The McLaren driver's third-place finish in the season finale sealed the title, capping a dramatic comeback after early-season struggles.
Emotional reflections on a lifelong dream
Speaking after the race, an exhausted but elated Norris described the win as the realization of his life's ambition. "I just won it my way," he said. "I'm happy I could go out and be myself."
The 26-year-old Briton emphasized his pride in achieving success without compromising his personality. "I didn't try to be as aggressive as Max or as forceful as other champions. My style was about being a good person and a good team member."

Norris' path to the title was far from smooth. After a strong start to the season, he endured a rough patch mid-year, including a major crash in Saudi Arabia. Verstappen mounted a late-season surge, but Norris' consistency and mental resilience ultimately prevailed.
Team principal Andrea Stella praised Norris' evolution: "The level of F1 drivers today demands continuous improvement. Lando elevated his game, responding to early difficulties with structured, holistic development."
The turning point
After trailing teammate Oscar Piastri by 34 points in late August, Norris launched an improbable comeback. He credits his success to introspection and adaptation, saying, "The struggles turned into strength. I had to understand myself more, dig deeper, and unlock new ideas."
Norris' manager, Zak Brown, who has supported him since age 14, called the victory "a great accomplishment." Brown added, "The team around Lando helped shape him into the mature world champion he is today."
Family sacrifices and personal growth
Norris' Belgian mother, Cisca, described the journey as "emotionally draining" but rewarding. "We backed Lando through good and bad times," she told BBC Radio 5 Live. "It takes sacrifices-we missed him growing up, but we supported his choices."
Reflecting on his growth, Norris said, "The second half of the season is what makes me proud. I proved myself wrong and turned adversity into success."
