Palace issues statement on Andrew allegations

King Charles has publicly addressed the latest allegations surrounding his brother, Prince Andrew, marking his first direct intervention in the ongoing Epstein scandal. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson stated the monarch has expressed deep concern over the emerging claims and pledged cooperation with authorities if requested.

Police assess complaint against Andrew

Thames Valley Police confirmed they are evaluating a complaint filed by the anti-monarchy group Republic, which accuses Andrew of potential misconduct in public office and breaching official secrets. The complaint follows the release of new documents from the Epstein files, which include emails allegedly showing Andrew sharing confidential details of official trips and investment opportunities with Jeffrey Epstein.

Among the disclosed communications, Andrew appears to have forwarded reports of visits to Singapore, Hong Kong, and Vietnam to Epstein within minutes of receiving them from his then-adviser, Amit Patel, on 30 November 2010. Another email from 24 December 2010 reportedly includes confidential investment opportunities in Afghanistan shared with Epstein.

Breach of protocol concerns

As a former trade envoy, Andrew was bound by confidentiality rules regarding sensitive commercial and political information from official visits. The Palace statement emphasized the King and Queen's continued support for abuse victims, while Kensington Palace separately expressed deep concern over the revelations ahead of Prince William's trip to Saudi Arabia.

Public and royal reactions

During a visit to Clitheroe on Monday, a heckler shouted at the King, asking how long he had known about Andrew's alleged misconduct. The crowd responded with boos. Meanwhile, pressure on Andrew has intensified following claims in the newly released Epstein documents that a second woman was sent to the UK for a sexual encounter with him. Photographs from the files also depict Andrew in a compromising position with an unidentified woman.

Andrew's response and recent moves

Andrew has consistently denied all allegations of wrongdoing, and being named in the Epstein files does not imply guilt. In October 2025, he was stripped of his royal titles and dukedom following earlier revelations about his ties to Epstein. Last week, he relocated from Royal Lodge in Windsor to the King's Sandringham estate sooner than anticipated.

Additional documents have also embarrassed his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, whose emails to Epstein included requests for financial support. The messages were signed simply as "Sarah."

"The King has made clear, in words and through unprecedented actions, his profound concern at allegations which continue to come to light in respect of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor's conduct."
