Settlement reached in civil cases
Actor Kevin Spacey has resolved legal claims with three men who accused him of sexual assault, avoiding a scheduled High Court trial later this year. The civil lawsuits were put on hold after the out-of-court agreement was finalized.
Allegations span over a decade
The men alleged that Spacey assaulted them between 2000 and 2013. Spacey, 66, has consistently denied all accusations of misconduct. In 2023, he was acquitted of nine criminal sexual offense charges following a separate trial.
Details of the claims
Two of the accusers, identified in court documents as LNP and GHI, had also testified during Spacey's criminal trial. LNP alleged that Spacey assaulted him approximately 12 times between 2000 and 2005. GHI, who met Spacey through a workshop at London's Old Vic theatre, claimed he suffered psychological harm and financial losses due to an assault in 2008.
Spacey served as artistic director of the Old Vic from 2004 to 2013.
Third accuser waives anonymity
Ruari Cannon, the third claimant, chose to publicly identify himself. Cannon, who performed in Tennessee Williams' Sweet Bird of Youth at the Old Vic in 2013, accused Spacey of groping him at a post-show party. He participated in the 2024 Channel 4 documentary Spacey Unmasked.
"The allegation is ridiculous and it never happened," Spacey responded at the time.
Additional evidence and prior settlement
During a preliminary hearing this month, the claimants' legal team argued that testimony from seven additional witnesses, alleging similar abusive behavior by Spacey, should be presented at trial. The same hearing confirmed that Cannon had already reached a separate settlement with the Old Vic theatre.
Terms remain confidential
No financial or other details of the settlements between Spacey and his accusers have been disclosed.
