Kanye West delays Marseille show indefinitely
US rapper Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, has postponed his upcoming concert in Marseille, France, citing personal reflection. The move follows the cancellation of his UK appearance at London's Wireless Festival last week after British authorities barred his entry.
French government considers performance ban
French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez is reportedly exploring legal avenues to block West's 11 June concert in Marseille. An unnamed source close to Nuñez told AFP the minister is "highly determined" to prevent the event, though no official decision has been announced.
Controversial remarks fuel backlash
West's history of inflammatory statements has drawn widespread condemnation. In recent years, he has faced accusations of antisemitism, racism, and glorifying Nazi ideology. In 2022, he posted on social media declaring he would go "death con 3 on Jewish people" and later praised Adolf Hitler during an interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.
In May 2025, he released a song titled Heil Hitler and sold merchandise featuring swastikas, further escalating criticism.
West apologizes but faces legal challenges
In January, West published an apology in The Wall Street Journal, denying antisemitism and attributing his behavior to bipolar disorder. "I am not a Nazi or an antisemite," he wrote. "I love Jewish people." He also expressed regret for losing "touch with reality."
Despite the apology, West now faces a lawsuit alleging he assaulted a man at a Los Angeles hotel in 2024. The plaintiff claims West punched him without provocation, leaving him unconscious. West previously addressed the incident on The Download podcast, suggesting the man had inappropriately touched his wife, Bianca Censori.
Tour status remains uncertain
West's official website still lists upcoming performances across Europe, including dates in Turkey, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, as well as a show in New Delhi, India, later this month. Dutch officials have stated no plans to block his entry, while French authorities continue to weigh their options.
The UK Home Office denied West's Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) application last week, citing concerns his presence would not be "conducive to the public good."
"I take full responsibility for what's mine but I don't want to put my fans in the middle of it. My fans are everything to me. Looking forward to the next shows."
