Bodycam video of Timberlake's arrest made public
Police footage from Justin Timberlake's June 2024 drunk-driving stop in New York's Hamptons was released Friday following a lawsuit settlement. The singer had sued to block the video, arguing it would damage his reputation.
Traffic stop details
Sag Harbor officers pulled Timberlake over after observing his grey BMW roll through a stop sign and drift into oncoming traffic. The 45-year-old singer, in the village for a world tour, told police he was driving a rental car.
When asked to identify himself, Timberlake replied, "I'm Justin Timberlake." Officers noted his bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol on his breath.
Sobriety tests and arrest
Timberlake struggled with field sobriety exercises, including a heel-to-toe walk and eye-tracking test. He declined a breathalyzer and told officers, "These are, like, really hard tests."
"By the way, these are, like, these are like really hard tests."

After handcuffing him, police placed Timberlake in the back of a patrol car. A companion pleaded with officers to release him, according to the video.
Legal resolution
Timberlake initially faced a DWI charge but pleaded guilty to a lesser offense of driving while impaired. He paid a $500 fine, completed 25 hours of community service, and recorded a public safety message outside court.
"Even if you've had one drink, don't get behind the wheel of a car. This is a mistake I have made, but I hope whoever is watching and listening right now can learn from this."

Privacy dispute
Timberlake's legal team had argued the footage showed him "in an acutely vulnerable state" and would cause "severe and irreparable harm." A judge ruled the release did not violate privacy, leading to a settlement with redactions.
The village released over eight hours of video, including the traffic stop and booking at the police station.
