Pickford recently surpassed Gordon Banks' record with nine consecutive England clean sheets, a milestone he attributes to teamwork. My family would say I look out for people." Fatherhood has added perspective: he coaches his six-year-old son Arlo with patience, focusing on concentration over criticism. "If he's not engaged, I'll say, 'Switch on'-but I won't shout."

With England eyeing the 2026 World Cup, Pickford's ambition is clear: "Winning it would do me." Away from football, Pickford is a motocross enthusiast, though his contract bans him from riding. "I'd go every weekend if I could," he confessed. "The adrenaline when the gate drops-it's mint." His childhood included motorhome trips to racetracks, a passion he still shares with friends competing in the British Championships.
'Mad' upbringing and unwavering support
Pickford described his Washington childhood as "mad but brilliant." His parents-"strict but fair"-let him and his brother roam freely. "Mam would shout, 'Get in, you've got school!' but I'd be out till dark," he recalled. Even now, his mother texts before every England call-up: "Good luck, love you." "She's my rock," he said.
"To lift the World Cup for England would be number one. Silverware at Everton would be number two. It's been too long since we won something."
