Luxury watchmaker launches exclusive Vantara-themed timepiece
A new high-end watch, designed by Jacob & Co and inspired by the private zoo of India's wealthiest family, has been revealed. The piece features a hand-painted figurine of Anant Ambani, youngest son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, at its center.
Design and craftsmanship
The watch showcases intricate sculptures of a lion and a Bengal tiger encircling Anant's seated figure. Jacob & Co described the piece as a "tribute to Vantara," the wildlife rescue center owned by Anant, with the central figurine symbolizing "stewardship and responsibility."
The timepiece is adorned with 397 precious stones, including diamonds, green sapphires, and garnets, though the brand has not disclosed its price. Industry estimates place its value at approximately $1.5 million (£1.1 million or 137 million rupees).
Vantara: A private wildlife sanctuary
Vantara, located in Jamnagar, Gujarat, spans 3,500 acres and houses over 2,000 species, including lions, elephants, and tigers. The facility, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2025, is not open to the public.
Last year, the zoo faced allegations of unlawful animal acquisition and mistreatment, but a Supreme Court-appointed team found no evidence of wrongdoing.
High-profile connections
The Ambani family's influence was on full display during Anant's 2024 pre-wedding celebrations, held partly at Vantara. The events drew global figures, including Bollywood stars, international celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Rihanna, business leaders such as Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, and political figures like former UK prime ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson.
Availability and market response
An executive from Ethos Watches, Jacob & Co's retail partner in India, confirmed the watch is not yet available in stores. The brand has not released pricing details to the public.
