Great Britain's women edge out Canada in thrilling opener
Team GB's women's curling squad claimed a hard-fought 7-6 victory over defending world champions Canada on Saturday, marking their first win of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.
After losing their first two matches against China and South Korea, the British team, led by skip Rebecca Morrison, delivered a standout performance to overturn the reigning champions. Canada had entered the match vulnerable following a loss to the United States the previous day.
"It just feels absolutely amazing to go out there and get our first win. Becca played fantastically-we all did-but it's great to see Becca when she's like that, and I'm sure she'll be on a roll now,"

Men's team bounces back with decisive win
Great Britain's men's team also notched a victory on Saturday, defeating the Czech Republic 7-4 to recover from their earlier loss to Italy. The match saw Czech skip Lukas Klima execute several audacious shots, but Bruce Mouat's rink maintained control to secure the win.
Their record now stands at three wins and one defeat, positioning them strongly for a semi-final berth. Six victories in the nine-round robin matches are expected to be sufficient for progression.
"We were in control but couldn't really get away. We just had to stick with it, and we felt pretty comfortable,"
