Ramsay praises Beckhams amid public family dispute

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has described Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham as "good parents" while commenting on their strained relationship with son Brooklyn, which spilled into public view earlier this year.

Brooklyn's public allegations

In January, Brooklyn Beckham posted a series of statements on Instagram, declaring he had no intention of reconciling with his family. The posts followed months of online speculation about a feud, with Brooklyn making several claims about his parents, many tied to his 2022 wedding to American actress Nicola Peltz.

One of the most contentious accusations involved Lady Victoria Beckham allegedly disrupting the couple's planned first dance. Brooklyn claimed his mother "hijacked" the moment, which had been arranged "weeks in advance" to feature a romantic love song.

"She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life," he said.

A report from British Vogue, which attended the wedding, offered a different account, stating: "Brooklyn invited his mother on stage for a dance, and they were joined by David and their 10-year-old daughter, Harper."

Ramsay's perspective

In an interview with The Sun, Ramsay-who was present at the wedding-dismissed the idea that anything "salacious" or "inappropriate" occurred during the dance. The chef, a longtime friend of the Beckham family, emphasized the depth of the relationship between David and Brooklyn.

"The relationship with David and Brooklyn is very, very deep, and I know how much David loves Brooklyn," he said.

Ramsay suggested time would help heal the rift, noting that Brooklyn's emotions may have clouded his judgment.

"It's easy to get up on that roller coaster and get carried away, but it will come back," he added.

Brooklyn's independence and Ramsay's advice

When asked if he had spoken to Brooklyn, Ramsay confirmed they had exchanged messages "a little bit" and expressed affection for him. He acknowledged Brooklyn's desire to "stand on his own two feet" but urged him to remember the long-term importance of family.

"One day you're not going to have your Mum and Dad," Ramsay said.

Beckhams' silence and broader comments

Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham have not directly addressed Brooklyn's allegations. However, in January, David Beckham spoke generally about social media, stating that children "are allowed to make mistakes."

Ramsay's comments came ahead of the release of his new Netflix documentary, Being Gordon Ramsay.
