Tribe unavailable for Jersey's World Cup qualifying campaign

Jersey's squad for the T20 World Cup Europe Sub-regional Qualifier A in Cyprus does not include Glamorgan opener Asa Tribe, who is set to play for his county during the tournament.

County commitments take priority

Tribe, 22, has been in strong form for Glamorgan this season, scoring three half-centuries in the County Championship. His absence from Jersey's squad follows a scheduling clash with Glamorgan's upcoming fixtures, including a Division One match against Warwickshire starting Friday and the start of their T20 Blast campaign.

The left-handed batsman last represented Jersey in July 2025, playing in their opening match of the final round of qualifying for the 2026 T20 World Cup before returning to Glamorgan.

Jersey's squad and tournament outlook

Jersey, one of 10 teams competing in the Europe Sub-regional Qualifier A, will face Cyprus, Croatia, France, and Switzerland in pool matches. The group winner will advance to a final against the top team from the other pool, with the victor progressing to next year's final round of European qualifying.

The 14-man squad, captained by Charles Perchard, includes Tribe's younger brother Zak. Wellington all-rounder Nick Greenwood is the only first-class player in the group, which also features experienced campaigners like Jonty Jenner, Harrison Carlyon, and Ben Ward.

Notable inclusions and debuts

Former rugby player Scott van Breda, who helped Farmers win the European Cricket League in March 2025, makes his tournament debut for Jersey after earning caps against Guernsey last season. Bowler Dan Birrell, who featured in warm-up matches against Denmark earlier this month, has also been recalled.
