Fourth Wing series to be adapted for television
Michael B. Jordan's production company, Outlier Society, is developing a TV adaptation of the best-selling fantasy novel Fourth Wing for Amazon, though key casting choices remain undecided, the actor revealed this week.
Casting approach: balancing new and familiar faces
Speaking to the BBC, Jordan emphasized that the show's casting will avoid predictable or "obvious" choices. Instead, he aims to blend emerging talent with established actors to create a fresh dynamic for the series, which centers on dragons, magic, and romance.
"When it's done the right way, you can strike a balance where the casting doesn't distract from the story," he said. "It allows fans to connect with the characters they've imagined without preconceived notions."
Commitment to authenticity and depth
Jordan, who is also an executive producer on the project, assured fans that the adaptation will steer clear of a "cheesy" tone. He highlighted the expansive world of Rebecca Yarros' Empyrean series-now spanning three books with two more planned-as an opportunity to build a rich ensemble cast.
"There's room for a deep roster of characters," he added. "We're focused on making something that feels honest and true to the source material."
Jordan's evolving role in Hollywood
The actor, nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the horror film Sinners, is expanding his work behind the camera. His production company secured the rights to Yarros' novels, which have sold millions of copies worldwide in 40 languages.
Jordan's directorial debut, Creed III, premiered in 2023, and he is set to helm a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. He described his shift toward producing and directing as a natural evolution of his career.
"As I've grown, my interests have expanded. I've always wanted to explore other aspects of storytelling and the industry,"

When asked if he might take on a role in the Fourth Wing series, Jordan demurred, saying only, "I don't know."
Oscars buzz and upcoming projects
Jordan attended the Academy Awards luncheon in Los Angeles on Tuesday, where Sinners was celebrated as the most-nominated film in Oscars history, with 16 nods. His best actor nomination is among them, with the ceremony set for next month.
