European transfer deadlines mark end of winter window
The winter transfer period concluded across Europe on Monday, with leagues setting varying cutoff times for player moves. The Premier League, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and Serie A all shut their windows at 19:00 GMT, while La Liga and the Scottish Premiership allowed clubs until 23:00 GMT to finalize deals.
Confirmed transfers as deadline passes
Several high-profile moves were confirmed in the final hours of the window. Southampton defender Armel Bella-Kotchap completed an undisclosed transfer to Italian side Hellas Verona at 16:00 GMT, while Bristol City forward Fally Mayulu joined Portuguese club FC Arouca for an undisclosed fee two hours earlier.
International moves
Among other notable international transfers, Southampton's Juan Larios joined Spanish second-division team Real Zaragoza on loan at 13:31 GMT. Watford midfielder Moussa Sissoko made a permanent switch to Greek club Panathinaikos at 09:55 GMT, and Brighton's Brajan Gruda moved to RB Leipzig on loan at 09:00 GMT.
Scottish Premiership and lower leagues see activity
In Scotland, Aberdeen secured Hoffenheim midfielder Dennis Geiger on loan at 16:00 GMT. The English Football League also saw multiple last-minute deals, including Wigan Athletic's Tobias Brenan joining Harrogate Town on loan and Nottingham Forest's Esapa Osong moving to Fleetwood Town under similar terms.
Notable EFL transfers
Other significant moves in the EFL included Sunderland's Patrick Roberts making an undisclosed transfer to Birmingham City and Manchester United youngster Ethan Wheatley joining Bradford City on loan. Free agent transfers also took place, with Stockport County's Jack Hunt moving to Wigan Athletic and Leyton Orient signing Omar Beckles from Gillingham without a fee.
Women's Super League window extends to Tuesday
While most European leagues concluded their transfer activities on Monday, the Women's Super League (WSL) will keep its window open until 23:00 GMT on Tuesday, 3 February.
