Dodgers force Game 7 after 3-1 win over Blue Jays in World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers evened the World Series at 3-3 with a 3-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, setting up a decisive Game 7 at Rogers Centre on Saturday. Catcher Will Smith and Mookie Betts drove in key runs in the third inning, while starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto held Toronto to just one run over six innings.

Early struggles and third-inning breakthrough

After back-to-back losses at home, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts adjusted his lineup, but the team struggled to get on base early. The breakthrough came in the third inning when Smith's RBI double scored Tommy Edman, followed by Betts' two-run single-giving Los Angeles a 3-0 lead.

Toronto's George Springer cut the deficit with a sharp line drive, but Yamamoto limited further damage, allowing only five hits while striking out six over six innings.

Controversial call preserves Dodgers' lead

The Blue Jays nearly tied the game in the ninth inning when Alejandro Kirk was hit by a pitch and replaced by pinch-runner Myles Straw. Addison Barger's line drive wedged under the left-center field wall, but umpires ruled it a ground-rule double, stranding runners at second and third.

Toronto challenged the call, arguing the ball was playable, but video review upheld the decision. With the tying run in scoring position, Andres Gimenez grounded into a double play to end the game.

Key moments and Game 7 preview

Earlier, the Dodgers struck first on Halloween night when Smith's double scored Edman, and Betts' single extended the lead. Toronto starter Kevin Gausman retired 17 of 24 batters but surrendered three runs in the pivotal third inning.

Game 7 is scheduled for Saturday at 20:00 ET (01:00 GMT Sunday) in Toronto, with the winner claiming the championship. The Dodgers seek their first title since 2020, while the Blue Jays aim for their first since 1993.
