Cornish Pirates retain key players ahead of 2026-27 campaign
Cornish Pirates have locked in 11 experienced players for next season, including a permanent deal for former Ealing loanee Tomiwa Agbongbon, as they aim to strengthen their squad for a playoff challenge.

Loose forward Milo Hallam became the latest player to commit to the club on Wednesday, agreeing to a one-year extension. The Pirates, currently seventh in the Championship with two games remaining, are targeting a top-six finish to secure a postseason playoff spot.
Joint-head coach Gavin Cattle told BBC Radio Cornwall that the club's priority was to "secure the spine of the team" while remaining flexible on other positions. He described the process as "a bit like a jigsaw puzzle," noting that pending dual-registration confirmations would influence their recruitment strategy to stay within budget.
"We're really pleased with the spine we've signed and people wanting to stay is always a good sign as well."

Experienced players to mentor newcomers
Cattle highlighted the importance of retaining seasoned players like Morgan Nelson, Dan Hiscocks, Arwel Robson, and Arthur Relton, who can guide less experienced teammates. "They can pass on knowledge," he said. "It's not just a coaching job; it's a group job to bring the team forward."
The coach identified several "key characters" within the squad who could help drive the team's progress next season.
Final fixtures could decide playoff fate
The Pirates face third-placed Coventry at home on Saturday in their last home game of the season. They then travel to sixth-placed Hartpury in a match that could prove pivotal in their playoff push.
