BTS return with massive 2026 world tour
The South Korean supergroup BTS has revealed plans for a 79-date international tour, their first full-scale global performances since 2019. The tour kicks off in April 2026, spanning Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
Tour details and venues
The reunion tour begins with three concerts at Goyang Stadium in South Korea on April 9, 2026. European stops include London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (July 6-7), Paris, Madrid, Brussels, and Munich. Additional dates in Japan, the Middle East, and other regions will be announced for 2027.
The band will perform on a 360-degree stage, designed to maximize seating capacity at each venue. Tickets go on sale for fans on January 22, with general public access opening two days later.
Financial and cultural impact
Industry analysts project the tour could generate over $1 billion for BTS and their label, Hybe, through ticket sales, merchandise, licensing, and streaming revenue. The group's previous tour grossed $246 million, setting records for K-pop acts, including a historic headline performance at Wembley Stadium.
Hybe reported a 37.5% drop in operating profit during BTS's 2024 hiatus, citing the band's absence as a contributing factor. Their return is expected to reverse this trend, with demand likely rivaling that of Taylor Swift's 2022 Eras Tour or Oasis's 2024 reunion.
Musical comeback and fan excitement
BTS's upcoming album, recorded in Los Angeles over six months, will debut on streaming platforms on March 20, 2026. The untitled project follows a period of solo work, with members exploring individual artistic identities. Bandleader RM described the reunion as a "strange but exciting" adjustment after military service, which concluded last June.
Fans, known as ARMY, have eagerly awaited the return. The band's January 1 announcement of the album release crashed their fan platform, Weverse, due to overwhelming traffic. In handwritten letters sent to fans, members expressed gratitude and anticipation for the reunion, with Jung Kook writing, "I'll keep doing my best, just as I always have."
Legacy and future plans
Since forming in the early 2010s, BTS has played a pivotal role in popularizing K-pop globally, blending dance-pop, hip-hop, and introspective lyrics. Their hiatus saw solo successes, including Jung Kook's chart-topping projects and collaborations like "My Universe" with Coldplay.
With the new album and tour, the group aims to reconnect with fans who have waited seven years for a full live performance. RM hinted at the band's evolving dynamic, saying, "I'm looking for what I'll become."
