Scott called up for England's pre-World Cup camp
Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has joined England's training squad in Florida ahead of two friendlies, raising his chances of making his international debut.
Supplementary players added to squad
Scott is one of five additional players-alongside Rio Ngumoha, Josh King, Jason Steele, and Ethan Nwaneri-who traveled to the U.S. as part of England's preparation camp. The group will remain in Florida even after the main squad arrives.
Four Arsenal players-Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, and Noni Madueke-as well as Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson are set to join later, following their involvement in European finals. Henderson is expected within 24 hours, while the others will report over the weekend.
Friendlies offer Scott a pathway to debut
Though none of the five supplementary players were named in Thomas Tuchel's final 26-man World Cup squad, all are eligible to feature in the upcoming friendlies against New Zealand and Costa Rica. However, only Scott was included in Tuchel's provisional 55-man squad, meaning he remains in contention for a late call-up if injuries occur.
The 22-year-old previously earned a senior call-up for November's matches against Serbia and Albania but did not make an appearance. He was later left out of the squad for March's games against Japan and Uruguay, as well as the final World Cup roster.
Tuchel praises Scott's attitude
England's head coach explained the decision to bring the five extra players to the U.S., highlighting Scott's resilience after missing out on the initial World Cup selection.
"I'm really happy these guys are with us, especially Alex, who was with us in the list of 55 and had a kind of disappointing phone call as well, that he didn't make the first cut. But the reaction of him was outstanding, the commitment, the wish to be in pre-camp and to just be a step closer to the team was not even a question for him."

With the friendlies providing a platform to impress, Scott has a clear opportunity to earn his first England cap before the squad departs for the summer break.
