Deportation ordered after Bali studio raid
Tia Billinger, known online as Bonnie Blue, will be deported from Indonesia after authorities found her working on a tourist visa, despite being cleared of violating the country's anti-pornography laws. The 26-year-old was among 34 people detained during a police raid on a Bali production studio earlier this month.
Charges and legal outcome
Indonesian officials confirmed Billinger was found guilty of a minor traffic offense but faced deportation primarily for an immigration violation. She was fined Rp 200,000 (approximately $12) and is scheduled to leave the country on a late-night flight.
While the raid initially sparked concerns over potential pornography production, police determined no indecent material was created. Witnesses, including 16 foreigners and 14 Indonesians, stated the studio was filming an "entertainment-themed reality show."
Investigation details
Badung Police examined evidence, including a pickup truck branded with "Bonnie Blue" and "Bang Bus," as well as videos recorded at a Berawa hotel. Investigators concluded no pornographic content was produced or distributed unlawfully.
However, authorities alleged Billinger and three other foreign nationals misused their tourist visas to work on commercial projects. Police chief M Arif Batubara stated the case would proceed "based on legal facts," with prosecutors and immigration officials determining further actions, including a potential re-entry ban.
Background and prior incidents
Billinger, originally from Nottingham, gained notoriety for controversial content, including a bus tour targeting "barely legal" teenagers at universities. In Bali, she reportedly drove the same bus during "schoolies week," an Australian post-exam tradition.
Last year, her plans to film pornography in Australia were halted after her tourist visa was canceled.
Next steps
Immigration officials will announce whether Billinger has been blacklisted from re-entering Indonesia. Her departure follows a broader crackdown on foreign nationals working illegally in the country.
