Kidderminster boss opens up about abusive messages
Adam Murray has spoken about the personal toll of managing Kidderminster Harriers through a challenging but ultimately successful season, including targeted online abuse and stadium taunts.
Promotion secured after play-off final victory
The former Derby and Mansfield Town midfielder led Kidderminster back to the National League on Saturday after a 2-0 win over South Shields in the National League North play-off final. The club finished third in the regular season, eight points behind runners-up South Shields.
This marks Murray's second career promotion, following his 2022-23 title-winning season with AFC Fylde, where he guided the team to the National League as champions.
Emotional toll of the season
In an interview with BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester, Murray described the season as deeply emotional, citing persistent abuse from fans both online and in person. He recalled a particularly difficult moment during a home match against Bedford, when chants of "sacked in the morning" were directed at him.
"It still rings in my ears-Bedford at home-when I heard I'm getting 'sacked in the morning' and that hurt me."

Murray also revealed receiving "vicious personal messages" on social media but said his self-belief and faith in God helped him push through the challenges.
Managerial career spans multiple clubs
Before joining Kidderminster 12 months ago, Murray had managerial stints at Mansfield Town and Boston United, as well as two spells as caretaker manager at Barnsley. His experience in lower-league football has been marked by both success and adversity.

With promotion secured, Murray and his squad will now prepare for life in the National League, aiming to build on their momentum after a hard-fought campaign.
