Prime Video's 'War of the Worlds' dominates Razzies
The 2025 Golden Raspberry Awards, honoring the year's worst films, handed five trophies to the sci-fi remake War of the Worlds, starring Ice Cube as an office worker battling an alien invasion without leaving his desk.
Record haul for panned adaptation
The film secured top dishonors for worst picture, worst actor (Ice Cube), worst director (Rich Lee), worst screenplay, and worst remake. Organizers called it an instant "cult hate-watch classic" in a statement released Saturday.
"Director Rich Lee utterly destroyed HG Wells' classic novel with a goofy gimmick, hack dialogue, and Ice Cube's particularly hilarious performance," the Razzies said.
Other notable winners
Rebel Wilson took worst actress for her role in Bride Hard, where she played an action hero wielding weaponized curling irons. The Razzies described her performance as "not-quite-believable."
Scarlet Rose Stallone, daughter of Sylvester Stallone, won worst supporting actress for her role in the Western Gunslingers.
Digital dwarfs and a redemption story
Disney's 2025 Snow White remake faced backlash as its seven computer-generated dwarfs shared the worst supporting actor award and worst screen combo.
Kate Hudson, a past Razzie nominee, received the "Razzie redeemer award" after earning an Oscar nomination this year for Song Sung Blue. Hudson had previously been nominated for three Razzies for Music, Mother's Day, and My Best Friend's Girl.
